A USB-A keyboard, scanner, storage device or other peripheral can remain part of an equipment design when the host connection moves to USB-C. This adapter provides the connector arrangement needed for that connection, with a flat cable route between the host port and the peripheral socket.

The host must support the connected peripheral through its USB hardware and software. On compatible portable devices, host operation is sometimes described as OTG support. A USB-C port alone does not establish that the device can act as a host or run the intended peripheral.

The supported data connection depends on the host, peripheral and specified cable version. Select the required USB data version during the project review; neither the flat cable shape nor the USB-C connector establishes a fixed data rate for this product family.

For a bus-powered peripheral, the host must supply enough power within the cable assembly rating. Review the peripheral load together with the host output and cable requirements. This product is specified as a host-to-peripheral adapter, not as a charging input for the USB-C host or a power-injection connection.
