A matched 12V PoweredUSB extension for adding controlled reach between the host port and peripheral cable without voltage conversion.
Goochain builds 12V PoweredUSB male-to-female extension cables for POS layouts where the original peripheral cable needs more reach but the existing device interface should remain unchanged. The assembly is a passive extension: it keeps the approved 12V connection and pin map rather than converting the supply. Because the added cable length and extra mated connector become part of the complete power and USB path, conductor size, shielding, total route and peripheral load are reviewed together. For installations behind a display, counter, kiosk or equipment panel, the female socket position, molded exit and mechanical support can be developed around the actual enclosure so routine plugging and service do not leave the receptacle hanging from the cable.
A POS layout can change while the peripheral cable stays the same. A terminal moves behind a display, a connection needs to pass through a counter, or a recessed port becomes difficult to reach during servicing. Goochain’s 12V POWEREDUSB male-to-female extension cable adds reach between the host and the existing peripheral lead, allowing the device-side connection to remain in place.
The male plug connects to a matching 12V POWEREDUSB host port; the female end accepts the existing cable’s matching male plug. This is a passive extension with no voltage conversion or active signal regeneration. Its length and construction are specified around the complete connection.
An extension is useful when the existing peripheral lead already has the correct device connector and wiring, but falls short of the new host position. It can also bring a concealed connection to a service opening, where technicians can disconnect the peripheral without reaching behind the terminal.
For a new installation with no existing cable to retain, a single longer assembly may be worth comparing with an extension. Our PoweredUSB Cable range covers other device-end formats for projects that need a different connection arrangement.
The distance between two devices is only part of the measurement. Routing around a stand, passing through a counter and leaving room for connector removal all affect the required extension length. A route sketch should identify both the added section and the existing peripheral cable.
| Installation Detail | What We Review |
|---|---|
| Added reach | Installed route, existing cable length and the length measurement points on the drawing |
| Peripheral load | Operating current and acceptable voltage drop across the complete power path |
| USB connection | Required data function, signal wiring, shielding and evaluation with the intended equipment |
| Service access | Female socket position, mechanical support, latch access and rear clearance |
For data-enabled versions, evaluation includes the host, extension, original lead and peripheral together. A continuity check confirms the wiring path; it does not by itself establish USB performance through the finished installation.
If the socket will be unplugged regularly, decide how it will be held before approving the cable. A supported receptacle allows the installer to operate the latch and separate the connectors without pulling on the cable jacket. The fixing position also needs enough space behind it for the molded exit and a natural cable bend.
Goochain can review an inline female end or a bracket- or enclosure-supported arrangement for the project. Mounting hardware, cutouts and fixing features are defined separately on the approved drawing; they are not assumed to be included with every extension.
At our 5,000 m² facility in Dongguan, China, Goochain supports OEM manufacturing and ODM development for custom powered USB assemblies. For this extension, the drawing brings together the approved male and female interfaces, pin map, cable construction, length and connector exits.
Samples are checked in the intended installation before the configuration is released. Agreed production checks can include continuity, pin assignment, appearance and required functional tests. Part numbers and revision labels help distinguish extensions made for different equipment layouts. Our Factory & Quality page provides more detail on the manufacturing and inspection process.
No. It does not convert or regulate voltage. Both mating interfaces and the wiring must match the intended 12V installation.
There is no single length suitable for every setup. Send the required added reach, existing cable length, device load and USB requirements so the complete connection can be reviewed before a sample is made.
Yes. Start with photos of the host port and existing plug, a route sketch, the peripheral model and target quantity. Include the pinout or a reference cable where available, and show where the female socket should sit. These details help us prepare a quotation and a sample that can be checked in your equipment.
Keep required fields minimal. Attach drawings/photos for accurate quoting.
Tip: A simple installation photo often saves 2–3 rounds of questions.
Quotation 1–2 days; development 15–20 days; mass production 20–25 days (project dependent).
Yes. Reference sample + requirements helps confirm drawings and test plan.
Depends on materials and complexity. We support prototypes and scalable mass production.
